12 Days of #shoplocal 7/12

Welcome to Day #7 of our 12 Days of #shoplocal series - featuring local brands and companies we love.

Seventh on our list is Walnut Hill Farm in Sharpsville, PA.

Walnut Hill Farm was established in 2008 by the Kovach family. They provide grass-fed Angus beef and lamb and pastured pork, turkey and chicken. Lots of the meat in our freezer comes from them!

We love that they raise their animals in the way that they evolved to live and eat. No feed lots, growth hormones or antibiotics! And they are totally open about the process of what it takes to raise animals in a sustainable way. We love seeing their Facebook pictures and videos!

Why is sustainability an important factor in choosing where to get your food? We only have one Earth - for the sake of future generations it should be taken care of. Plus, farmers that work with the land keep it healthier and in turn produce healthier animals. And why would you want to eat anything less than the healthiest animal if you choose to eat meat?

Their beef and lamb are 100% grass-fed and finished. The pigs. turkeys and chickens are pasture raised and are supplemented with non-GMO feed.

Right now we have their chicken, beef and some pork in our freezer. You can also go directly to their farm on Thursdays from 10 AM - 6 PM.

Check out their website to find out more.

Check back with us tomorrow - we will be sharing one of our favorite gluten free products!
